FestivALL Charleston's Porch Parade
FestivALL Charleston's final Porch Parade event in 2023 called upon local artists to turn the front lawns of historic homes in Charleston, West Virginia into works of art. I was asked by the organization to be a participating artist, and crafted a display featuring gardening bunnies, hovering polinators and fragrant flowers.

Project Overview
Client: FestivALL Charleston
Industry: Arts & Culture Nonprofit
Timeline: April to June 2023
My Role: Lead Designer
Beginning during the lockdowns of COVID-19, FestivALL Charleston transformed their annual art parade to the "Porch Parade." Instead of having a crowded venue for floats, FestivALL transferred the float designs to the front yards of a historic neighborhood of Charleston, West Virginia. Artists are tasked with decorating the front lawns of participating homes to create a fun and whimsical outdoor walking experience. Bringing art to the community's doorstep, and demonstrating art's influence on the everyday, I chose to make a scene that fit with the warm weather and flower beds of the house.
I created larger bunny gardeners, cutting out shapes from thick plywood sheets. Smaller flower stakes line flower beds and walkways, made from sealed cardboard and wooden stakes. Overseeing the planting is a similarly painted and sealed cardboard butterfly, bee and sun hanging from trees and the porch.
