Project Overview
Client: West Virginia Humanities Council
Industry: Nonprofit/Public Service Sector
Timeline: November 2023 to January 2024
My Role: Lead Illustrator and Researcher
The West Virginia Humanities Council wanted 12 illustrated postcards to capture 12 different historical and cultural icons of West Virginia history. These 12 postcards would then be sent to donors and subscribers, one each month for 12 months, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the organization. The Council provided names and topics to explore for the post cards, and I designed and heavily researched each postcard design to authentically represent the subjects and the clients.
Each card is inspired by quilt iconography, allowing all of the cards to come together to form a larger "quilt" of the history of the state.
